GIGABYTE GTX 1080 Windforce 3X OC Gaming Benchmarks

What we’ve all been waiting for, the gaming benchmarks to see precisely how the Windforce 3X OC actually fairs. As usual we’ll be running games that offer “next-gen” APIs, DX12 and Vulkan, because they’re going to be the most prolific going forward. Why would you limit performance, even if slightly, by using older OpenGL or DX11? We already know that the GTX 1080 is a good GPU, capable of providing good framerates at 1440P and bordering on damn good at 4K, with the effects turned down a bit.

Compared to the stock clocked GTX 1080, the Windforce 3X is indeed faster. Though at the stock, gaming setting, it doesn’t break any records. Overclocking even further, at the higher OC setting in the Xtreme Utility, brings up a nearly 5-percent increase in performance over what we see here. But nonetheless, it’s slightly faster with a slightly higher clockspeed over the stock 1080 and more importantly, it’s quieter. Which we’ll get to later. The bottom line is that it performs as expected and quite well. It is less expensive than the Founders Edition, and more powerful. How nice.
