Conclusion

Lenovo has done something interesting with their partnership with Razer. They can make their own gaming machines with a good dose of engineering, though this gets the word out to the far corners that may not consider the Lenovo name for a pre-built. It’s solid, good looking, has lights that aren’t over-the-top and manages to be have an attractive physical presence. Overall it isn’t a terrible choice. In the end Lenovo does offer great support should something break, and the actual quality of the components under their control is top-notch. The only sticking point is the funny little cooler that, while adequate, is not what I would expect for a desktop priced and positioned as such. Otherwise it’s a fine machine. One I’d recommend to friends on the basis of it being a complete, attractive kit. In the end you’ll have to decide whether you want something pre-built and decide on the aesthetics you’d enjoy. The ‘Y’ isn’t annoying and is subtly pretty awesome, to me. Your taste will vary, of course.

Whether or not you want to introduce yourself to the world of PC gaming with a pre-built is also a decision that needs to be made, but if you do decide that having it built and prepared for you is what you want, then the Lenovo IdeaCentre Y900 Razer Edition, at it’s $2499 price of entry, might be a good option to consider. It has everything you might need and is very expansible and easy to work with inside with it’s completely tool-less design. It could beĀ an exceptional starting point. Or a good stepping up point for those wishing for a complete package without the hassle of making your own.

Lenovo IdeaCentre Y900 Razer Edition Review
Lenovo has a good value with the Y900 RE, if you want those accessories. It can be a bit loud, but overclocks like a champ and keeps cool enough despite the decibels.
