Cooling/Noise
One thing that isn’t quite as enjoyable happen to be the noise characteristics of the machine. Though the TDP of the twoXeon 2620 v4 processors is a mere 85W, the heatsinks, though of ample size, seem to not do as well as would be ideal. That is, they’re fine in keeping temperatures stable, but the fans themselves have to go into overtime to do so. The sound is steady, but louder than I’d like for a normal office environment. We measured a nominal 43dBa while browsing the web and up to 49dBa during load. Not ideal by any means. The good thing is that the temperatures were quite good, sitting at a healthy 76-degrees Celsius while under load.
