After a couple of days of teasing, Rockstar Games have finally played its hand and formally announced the long awaited follow up to Red Dead Redemption – Red Dead Redemption 2.

Finally, Red Dead Redemption 2 is official

A post made on Rockstars NewsWire site says the game will launch in the Fall of 2017 worldwide for the Xbox One and PS4, sadly no PC release has been mentioned. The post goes on to give a bit of information about the game, saying it will be an epic tale of life in America’s unforgiving heartland which will be used as the basis for an online multiplayer experience. The last part potentially ties into the discovery that Rockstar had registered the domain reddead.online by Twitter user Bill Wright, though it is also possible this could just be a case of Take2 taking ownership of a domain to prevent others from using it, a practice that is by no means uncommon in the entertainment industry.

While like many I am disappointed at the lack of news for Read Dead Redemption 2 coming to the PC, I am still highly excited by this development for what has been a highly well regarded and much loved game. We’ll keep adding more to this story as it breaks, so keep your eyes peeled for more updates!
