The current Surface family of devices from Microsoft, the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book, are about to have quite the update, with everyone getting drivers for the screen, the pen and much more.
July firmware update for Surface Pro 4 and Book hit soon
The new updates aren’t just for those sneaky insiders, but are going to be pushed out to everyone. You should start seeing it very soon. It seems to also cover nearly every component, though there are two pieces that concentrate on the audio system itself.
When the new line of Surface products was released, it seems that there were a number of firmware issues that prevented them from immediately being some of the best devices possible. The Surface Book with the dGPU in particular was seen as problematic. The battery-life suffered in many situations where that NVIDIA dGPU was incorrectly used instead of the iGPU. That has largely been fixed and the device remains one of the more competitive 2-in-1 devices today.
