Microsoft has entered an exclusivity deal with Netflix that allows Windows users who use their Edge browser to stream 4K content. something not available anywhere else, apparently.

4K Netflix

4K Netflix is only for Edge users, for now

The reasoning behind the exclusive deal seems to stem from the fact that Edge is more efficient at handling video content, therefore laptops and tablets can last a bit longer while watching on Edge. Microsoft equates the battery life savings to at least one more episode of Gilmore Girls.

So if you happen to have a 4K Netflix capable laptop, which Microsoft defines as needing a 7th generation Intel Kaby Lake CPU (and the requisite 4K screen) then you can enjoy watching those shows that have been recorded and encoded in that resolution. It’s all there for the taking and binging right now.
